Research specifically investigating HIV/AIDS, communication, and communication disorders is limited, compounded by the fact that national databases do not specifically collect information pertaining to communication disorders experienced by persons living with HIV/AIDS. The purpose of this announcement is to encourage research in hearing, voice, speech, language, balance, taste, and smell disorders in persons with HIV/AIDS. [...]

The purpose of the HOPWA program is to provide states and localities with the resources and incentives to devise long-term comprehensive strategies for meeting the housing needs of low-income persons with Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquire Immunodeficiency Syndrome(HIV/AIDS).
