A Note from Sue - The State’s budget

Good afternoon / morning!

You know, I almost changed my mind and didn't write to you. I couldn't figure out what to put for the "Subject" … "They're still at it!" or "No, there STILL is not a state budget" or "We give up!! Please, please, please, pass a budget!!" or "OK — Nobody really does care — just do whatever you want …"

But then, I remembered my grandmother — "If something is worth having, it's worth working for …"
The little, tiny, "chump change!" budget amendment that we are promoting is worth working for !!

So, I write to you one more time … (I hope just one more time!!)

We still need Item 289 — State Pharmaceutical Assistance Plan for persons living with HIV/AIDS.

A colleague of mine wrote me today (Pete), and said he thinks the Budget Conferees are making progress … But then he wrote …

One concern of mine is the media report that the Governor and the "leadership" are talking about a method to have an "interium budget" if in fact a biennial budget is not agreed upon by the 30th. That possibility could ease some of the pressure on the negotiators, and they seem to need all the pressure that can be mustered to "get the job done!"

His key phrase there is "they seem to need all the pressure that can be mustered to 'get the job done!'"

That's where you and I come in — Other groups are sending out emails to their membership to contact these folks this week. Well, We Must Do The Same Thing!! Or else our little amendment may be lost …..

So please –
Call or email YOUR Delegate and YOUR Senator and ask that they support this little budget amendment to the Budget Conferees — THIS WEEK!

If you need some help with the details, visit www. VORAonline.org — You'll find the details there.

Thanks.

Sue
