Children Affected by AIDS Foundation Invites Letters of Intent
The Children Affected by AIDS Foundation ( www.caaf4kids.org/ ), which seeks to make a positive difference in the lives of children infected with HIV and affected by HIV/AIDS by helping to meet their diverse needs, advocating and educating on their behalf, and bringing joy and fun into their lives, is accepting Letters of Intent for its domestic grants program. The deadline is April 13, 2006 for Letters of Intent.
CAAF grants funds only to organizations with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Funds are granted to organizations that provide direct care, support, and assistance to children, from birth to age 13, who are HIV+ or otherwise affected by HIV/AIDS. This includes children who are HIV-infected, those who are or may become orphaned as a result of losing parents to HIV disease, and those who have siblings, parents, or caregivers who are infected with HIV.
CAAF's funding categories are as follows:
Basic Needs Category ($1,000 - $20,000) includes items such as clothing, formula, food, diapers, burial services, transportation (to/from medical visits, outpatient visits, and other social services appointments), emergency child-care, and respite services.
Social & Recreational Category ($1,000 - $10,000) is intended to benefit programs that involve children in social activities such as arts and crafts, sports, holiday parties, field expeditions, and other forms of recreation (with the exception of camp programming, which is funded separately via a CAAF Camp Network Request for Letters of Intent, currently available from CAAF and also due on April 13, 2006.
Psychosocial Support Category ($1,000 - $25,000) is intended to benefit direct services related only to the provision of psychosocial services to children. Psychosocial services include individual and family therapy/counseling, support groups, and life-skills classes.
Applicant organizations may only apply in one category. Organizations that mix categories in their proposals will be disqualified from the process.
