Children Affected by AIDS Foundation Offers Support for Camping Programs

The Children Affected by AIDS Foundation ( www.caaf4kids.org/ ) requests Letters of Intent for the CAAF Camp Network for the provision of camp services to children infected with HIV and children affected by HIV/AIDS. Through the Camp Network Initiative, CAAF seeks to award grants between $1,000 and $15,000 to already established 501(c)(3) nonprofit camp organizations that provide services for children up to 13 years of age. The deadline for Letters of Intent is April 13, 2006.

Funding levels for camp services under the CAAF Camp Network are as follows:

Day Camp ($1,000 - $5,000), one to three days of camp programming (not overnight); Short Term Overnight Camp ($5,000- $8,000), one to three days of overnight camp programming; and Long Term Overnight Camp ($8,000 - $15,000), over four days of overnight camp programming.

Programs that can demonstrate ongoing support from other sources or that will use a CAAF award to leverage external funding will be considered more favorably. Grant funds may be used for camp-related expenses such as rental of campsite space, transportation, food, supplies, and other direct service expenses. Although CAAF prefers that Camp Network funds be used for direct services for children, a percentage of the funds may also be used for personnel, fringe benefits, insurance, etc.

All organizations that are applying for CAAF Camp Network funding for the first time are required to submit an application for membership to the CAAF Camp Network. To view the requirements for membership and/or to download an application, visit: www.caaf-campnetwork.org.

Organizations may only submit one Letter of Intent to CAAF. Organizations applying under the CAAF Camp Network call may not apply for funding under other open CAAF calls (covering the grant categories of Basic Needs, Social & Recreational, and Psychosocial Support).

See the CAAF Web site for complete program information and Letter of Intent submission procedures.
