For over a decade VORA has been an advocate for those struggling to be heard. VORA began as a volunteer effort and has grown to be an independently operating 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We’re proud of our success and ask you to support us in the work still left to do.
VORA has:
- Organized AIDS Awareness Day that brought over 70 people from across the state to learn about the legislative process and how to advocate for their needs
- Created Virginia’s only comprehensive online listing of public and private HIV-testing sites
- Led Virginia’s Call to Action, at the request of Virginia Department of Health (VDH), to enlist gay men to commit to improve health and HIV prevention
- Organized Northern Virginia’s World AIDS Day Service of Healing
- Provided leadership to the Northern Virginia HIV Consortium Public Affairs Committee
- Presented public testimony to VDH-sponsored public hearings calling for improved support of HIV-prevention activities
All of this was accomplished with only two part-time staff. Please support VORA’s work to educate the public and elected officials about the AIDS epidemic.
Sincerely,

Sue Rowland
