Find Your Legislator

CONTACTING YOUR LEGISLATOR

Find out who is your legislator at the Virginia General Assembly.

There are 4 quick and easy ways to share your views with your Delegate and Senator. Choose the one that you like the best. They all work!

A TIP!

When contacting your Delegate or Senator, be sure to tell them you are one of their constituents. The people that live in their home districts are more important to them than the rest of us! So when you introduce yourself, be sure to include … “I’m one of your constituents.”

1. GO FOR A VISIT

Call the office of your legislator, and make an appointment.
Between January 14 and March 13, call the Richmond office of your legislator.
Before January 14, call their local office.

These phone numbers are available to you at http://legis.state.va.us/. Click on “Delegates” or “Senators” on the left, and then on the name of your representative.

2. CALL ON THE PHONE

Call your legislator’s office number (find that at http://legis.state.va.us/)
Or leave a message with the Constituent Viewpoint operators at (800) 889-0229 (outside Richmond) or 698-1990 (Richmond area).

3. SEND A LETTER

Yes, good old fashioned “snail mail” still gets to the General Assembly Building in Richmond! And the address is very simple:

The Honorable (Delegate/Senator’s First and Last Name)

910 Capitol Square

Richmond, Virginia 23219

You don’t need to type your letter … handwritten letters are very well received.

4. SEND AN E-MAIL

Most legislators, or their aides, read their e-mails regularly. If e-mail is convenient for you, use that.

E-mail addresses are found at http://legis.state.va.us/. Click on “Delegates” or “Senators” on the left, and then on the name of your representative.
