VORA Asks for HIV Prevention Funding

FEBRUAY 2007

BUDGET AMENDMENTS are different from regular bills in the way they are introduced, and the way they are tracked. To help you, VORA will provide details on AMENDMENTS to the 2006-2008 BIENNIAL BUDGET here. If you have questions, write to SRowland@VORAonline.org.

PRESERVING SPAP FUNDING
Del. Chris Jones
At the request of VORA

State Pharmaceuticall Assistance Program (SPAP) for Persons living with HIV/AIDS and using Medicare Part D. Seeking budget language to allow any unused funds in FY 2007 to be carried over to FY 2008. Due to the delay in start of up of the SPAP program, funds may be unspent at the end of June 30, 2007. This budget language would assure that any unused funds remain in the program, and are carried into the next fiscal year for use by SPAP.

UPDATE: 2/4/07 — THIS BUDGET AMENDMENT SUCCEEDED !!

WHAT HAPPENS NOW — The Budget Conference Committee members must approve the amendment. The final decision of this Committee won't be known until about February 22nd. We will be working to make sure that language stays in the final budget. Normally, if the language appears in both the House and Senate reports, it stays.
