Who We Are
Virginia Organizations Responding to AIDS is a collaboration of agencies, organizations, groups, and individuals who share an interest in improving the lives of Virginians living with HIV and AIDS. VORA works to educate the public and elected officials about the AIDS epidemic as well as advocate for those affected by this disease.
Funding is provided through grants, corporate contributions, and membership dues. Without this support, there would be no VORA!

We recognize Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry as the first dues paying member organization. NOVAM is the leading source of HIV prevention education in Northern Virginia and teaches 25,000 youth annually about the dangers of unprotected sex. NOVAM also provides many programs for those infected with HIV/AIDS that include transportation and children's services.
VORA also honors the first individual paying member Bob Atkins. Bob says his decision to get involved with VORA was easy because, "Having beliefs is fine, but they must be backed up by commitment of both time and money. VORA is not some abstract entity — it is the sum of our individual efforts. We must be active and visible in the community."
