SPNS Oral Health Initiative to Fund Model Strategies

The program and application guidance for the 2006 Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) Oral Health Initiative is now available. Proposals are solicited to develop model strategies and projects that demonstrate creative and novel ways to bring oral health services to HIV-infected populations and communities, especially where none or few are currently available.

Funds will be awarded to up to 15 sites and an evaluation center to develop and implement new and innovative models of providing oral health services, as opposed to funding more of the kind of dental programs that currently provide services in the usual manner. Demonstration sites in both urban and non-urban settings may be funded. Public and non-profit private entities are eligible to apply, including faith-based and community-based organizations with experience in delivering oral health services to HIV-infected, underserved individuals.

Applications are due electronically on March 31, 2006. Please see the important information about HRSA's new electronic application submission
