The Governor’s Budget and NVH Services

A quick note to you all in regard to the Governor's budget and funding for HIV/AIDS services …

No changes were proposed by Governor Warner this past Friday to the current budgets in the Health Department and the Department of Medical Assistance Services that seem to have any immediate impact upon HIV/AIDS services.

However, we all know that the FEDERAL funding coming to Virginia for HIV/AIDS services is shrinking. Some PWA's in a few parts of the state are already feeling that impact.

Public Hearings are scheduled around the state in early January — These public hearings will give YOU an opportunity to speak to the key members of the House of Delegates and the Senate — the members who make the first decisions about changes to the Budget.

The dates / times / places for the Public Hearings follow — Please find one that's close to you and plan to attend. Prepare to tell what you know about HIV/AIDS treatment services in your area. About the Good Service in your area — and if you have them, talk about the worries you have about the future.

We are concerned that Virginia will soon experience waiting lists in services where no such waiting lists have been found for many years. And your State elected officials need to know.

The General Assembly has announced its regional public budget hearings.
