Senate Budget Item 11 (#2s)
Senator Janet Howell asks for a review of changes in federal funding and the impact on Virginia’s HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment Programs. We would like for JLARC to do this review.
Senate Budget Item 329 (#1s)
Senator Benjamin Lambert asks for an additional $100,000 to the HIV Premium Assistance Program. This program provides funding to allow PWAs at risk of loosing their private health insurance to continue paying for the premium. This program saves Medicaid significant costs by keeping those PWAs from shifting to Medicaid for health care support.
House & Senate Budge Item 410 (#1h and #1s)
Delegate Chris Jones and Senator Janet Howell asked that a priority be given to State Responsible inmates who have HIV, Hepatitis C, or mental illness being treated with medications to be moved FROM local and region jails to the STATE correctional system prisons. This prioritizing of these inmates will save your local governments the costs of the medications required to treat these illnesses.
