There is Still Time!

There is still time to register for AIDS Watch on May 8-10, 2006.

So what is it and why should you go?

It's an opportunity to visit Washington DC — and that's fun place !! — And it's an opportunity to visit with Virginia's Congressmen and women, and Senator George Allen (might he be President one day?) and Senator John Warner —

This is the year for Ryan White reauthorization; and there are potential changes to HOPWA funding; and there is always a need to tell your story to the folks who are making the decisions on HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs.

This is an easy way to do that; with lots of other people that are just like you –

Come on and join us!

Kristy and I will be there. Wade Manear is leading us again this year. And if you went last year — how about tell us what you thought of it all!

Come to Washington! And encourage friends and family to join you in this important event.

The folks at NAPWA give us lots of information about the issues at hand. To find out more right now, go to www.napwa.org/aidswatch.html. The program for this year's AIDSWatch is shaping up nicely:

Monday, May 8 All-day advocacy training, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
(National Education Association, 1201 16th Street, NW)

The training will cover topics like "How to Be an Effective Advocate" (it's not hard, really) and a review of the key issues in Washington today that are impacting future HIV/AIDS services funding.

Tuesday, May 9 All-day advocacy meetings on Capitol Hill

Evening Reception on Capitol Hill, Time TBD
(U.S. Capitol Gold Room)

Dignitaries who have been invited include Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Barak Obama, Senator Arlen Specter, Congresswoman Hilda Soliz, Congresswoman Mary Bono, DC Mayoral Candidate Adrian Fenty, Christopher Bates, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, and AIDS Activist Paul Kawata. NAPWA cordially invites you to attend this exciting reception.

Wednesday, May 10 All-day advocacy meetings on Capitol Hill

Can't give up that much time??

No problem! Come for just two days — or ONE day — It all works.
