Two Things for you this morning

Good morning, everyone!

So, please, did ANYONE go to one of the Governor's public meetings to talk with him about PLWA needs in our state? We didn't hear from ANYONE … Please write me if you went to one.

Two important items have crossed my desk this week that I want to make sure you have seen.

One, AIDSWatch in DC –
It's just around the corner, and we all live closer to DC than most of the rest of the country (OK, not all, but most anyway …) — Sometimes that makes it hard for us to get there!! That's certainly true for our brothers and sisters in our rural areas of the state — Not easy to get on a plane and just fly into DC, is it!

Even with that said, Virginia doesn't want to be left out!!

Here is the link to the central AIDSWatch folks — and they can get you in touch with your closest state coordinator –

napwa.org

For me and Shannon — We'll be there!

Two, some info for you about a WORLD — A conference in San Francisco in June, and the opportunity for women living with HIV from Virginia to get costs covered.

Subject: [C2EA_Issues-Actions] WORLD - Women Organized to Respond to Life-Threatening Diseases

Hello everyone,

Please forward this email widely to any women, providers, or agencies who
may be interested in applying or spreading the word.

300,000 women in the United States are living with HIV… yet there is no unifying voice that represents a wide and diverse community of HIV-positive women in the U.S. Twenty-seven years into the HIV pandemic, this is about to change…

WORLD (Women Organized to Respond to Life-threatening Diseases) is launching a U.S.-based national Positive Women's Network. The Positive Women's Network (PWN) is a membership body consisting of HIV-positive women designed to strengthen our power at a national level to demand and create policies and programs that fit the realities of our lives.

We are now accepting applications from HIV-positive women leaders to attend the first national visioning convening for this network which will take place in San Francisco in mid-June, 2008.

The application process opens April 1, 2008 and closes April 22nd, 2008. You can fax completed applications to: 510.986.0341 or mail them to WORLD:

414 13th Street, Oakland CA 94612

The application is located in the 'files' section and in PDF form. Please contact WORLD:
www.womenhiv.org, 510.986.0340, or pwn@womenhiv.org for additional
information.

Thank you!
