UPDATE ON THE STUDY OF FUTURE FEDERAL FUNDING IN VIRGINIA

UPDATE ON THE STUDY OF FUTURE FEDERAL FUNDING FOR HIV/AIDS PREVENTION & TREATMENT SERVICES IN VIRGINIA
On October 25, 2005 the Joint Commission on Health Care was scheduled to review the study on federal funding trends for HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. However, due to a full agenda, the study report was not presented orally, as usual. AND, the time frame for public comment is shorter than the usual 30 days.

Comments are due by FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4th …
With limited time for public feedback, it is VERY IMPORTANT that the Commission hear from the community regarding the options presented in this study. Please write to the Joint Commission on Health Care (and copy its members) by 5 p.m. on Friday, NOVEMBER 4th..

The study may be reviewed at legis.state.va.us/jchc/10.25.05HIVReport.pdf along with the slide presentation that was prepared for this past Tuesday's meeting at legis.state.va.us/jchc/10.25.05HIV.pdf .

Normally, what the JCHC asks is that you comment on each of the OPTIONS presented at the end of the report. Please do that (give your opinions about one or all of them). Feel free to also add other comments — about your own experiences or ideas that you have that were not included as Options in the report.

VORA is currently drafting a response to the report and it will be available at www.voraonline.org by Monday, October 31. We want to hear from you! Call 703.626.7392 or write us a SRowland@VORAonline.org with your feedback on this study. The options taken will be critical for the future of HIV/AIDS funding.

But please don't feel that you must wait to see what VORA intends to write — What's most important is that the JCHC hear from the community affected by HIV/AIDS and those that provide prevention and treatment services –

Thanks for making the time — these efforts WILL be rewarded.
