Volunteers Gather in Richmond for AIDS Awareness Day
On Wednesday, February 15th, 75 volunteers from across the state gathered in Richmond for AIDS Awareness Day. These individuals were comprised of people affected and infected with AIDS, case managers, friends, and supporters who came to speak with legislators about five budget amendments concerning Medicare Part D and prevention. For many who participated, this was their first time lobbying and an educational experience as to how the General Assembly works. It was a great turnout and VORA is appreciative of everyone's participation. A very special thanks to the Fan Free Clinic in Richmond for hosting breakfast and to Gilead for hosting lunch.
If you were not able to join VORA on AIDS Awareness Day, you can still be heard! Call, write, or email your delegate and senator and ask them to support the budget amendments for HIV prevention and healthcare.
